OUR PHILOSOPHY

By Jose Fuentes/SCS/NASM Certified Trainer

..."My program is an exclusive, sound scientific training method which focuses on weight
loss, toning and functional training.

My method is based on functional core training involving acceleration, deceleration and
stabilization. I call it PLYOMETRICORE my active and new inactive clients train at my studio
to recondition and rehabilitate in a functional environment, while developing functional
strength and neuromuscular efficiency. The first step in customizing one¹s program is
strengthening, reconditioning and rehabilitating the entire muscular unit.

My PLYOMETRICORE program has the ability to produce concentric forces (acceleration)
eccentric forces (deceleration) and stabilization forces better known as isometrics. These
forces are produced in all three planes of movement efficiently.

What is Plyometrics?
This term is a common movement pattern that we all know and do very well within our
activities, and it is also known as the "stretch shortening cycle". As I mentioned, it refers to a
natural part of most movements. For example, by walking every time a foot hits the ground,
the quadraiceps (front leg) go through a "stretch shortening cycle". Think about this for a
second. When the foot hits the ground, the quadraiceps go through an eccentric action
(decelerating) then to an isometric action (stabilization) and finally to a concentric action
(acceleration).

This concept has had a tremendous impact on my training principles. Utilizing these
principles with an extensive clientele with any kind of muscle deficits with particular goals in
mind. The results with my clients speak for themselves.

I also focus in neuromuscular efficiency, which is the ability of the neuromuscular system to
allow prime movers, synergists, stabilizers and neutralizers in your body to work together. I
synergistically recruit them as an integrated functional unit.

What is core? It is the core that is our center of gravity. It is the core which receives the first
signals from or central nervous system to move. The core is made up of muscles that are
major stabilizers of the lumbar spine. All these core muscles like the rectus abdominus,
external and internal obliques are recruited it during functional movement patterns.
Furthermore, current research has demonstrated that the transverse abdominus decreases
neural drive in active individuals complaining of low back pain. The transverse abdominus is
preferentially recruit it during functional movement patterns that we all do during exercise
and day to day activities. This part of the core (transversus abdominus) prevents rotational
and translational stress in the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex. When they start my program, some
of my more new active clients are unable to adequately activate the tranversus abdominus
during functional activities. Instead, they rely on extrinsic muscles ( psoas, erectus spine,
and superficial abdominals) to provide dynamic stability to the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex .
The synergistic dominance leads to poor posture, inadequate stabilization, decrease
neuromuscular efficiency, tissue overload and eventually injury.

Movement is not an isolated event that occurs from a neutral lumbar (lower back) position.
Movement is a complex interdependent series of events that involves synergists, stabilizers,
neutralizers and prime movers all working together again to accelerate, decelerate and
stabilize over our center of gravity and the changing base of support in all three planes of
motion.

My PLYOMETRICORE program is designed to optimally recruit the muscles that stabilize
the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex and develop optimal neuromuscular efficiency. Designing my
integrated PLYOMETRICORE program requires adherence to systematic approach. The
exercises must be safe, challenging, stress multiple planes of movement, incorporate a
multi-sensory environment, utilize the entire muscle action spectrum, and follow an
integrated functional continuum.

Summary:
The main goal of my program is to provide each individual with any level of fitness, a training
program with an optimum level of functional fitness, strength and endurance...".
