I met Jose at a gym. I was in lousy shape. He said, “I think I can help you get back into
condition”. I was impressed. My back was bothering me. He put together a program - a
mix of stretching and strength . I didn’t realize how stretching could help me function
better. I hit a golf ball better because now I am able to make a full turn. I have taken off
weight. The real value of Jose to me is he is there as a motivator. I can go to the gym

I had been an athlete in college. I thought I stayed in reasonably good shape. I constantly
exercised, but probably did the wrong things. Through the years I had lost my flexibility.
When I touched my toes I could only come within 10 inches of my toes. In addition, I
found that my hamstrings had tightened. I also had a bad muscular back problem for the
past 30 years. No matter what I tried, whether it was a hard bed, a soft bed or select
comfort bed, nothing seemed to work. I was eating Advil like candy in order to find some

I had injured my knee skiing. Then I saw Jose at a local Chamber of Commerce
meeting. When he stood and introduced himself, he spoke of helping those with sports
injuries, so I contacted him. I wanted to work with someone with proper knowledge, so I
didn’t reinjure myself while trying to exercise. By using the proper techniques and
exercises, I was able to strengthen the muscles around the knee to make it stronger.
Within a month, I could absolutely see that I had more muscle, was more toned. As I
continue to work out on a regular basis, I continue to see additional progress.
Establishing a consistent, effective fitness schedule was also important to me. I had
been struggling with finding a way to incorporate a convenient exercise regimen into
my busy schedule. At Shapes R In, I have been able to do that.
Obviously healing my knee was the most important thing I was looking to achieve.
Having lost some weight, I am thinner and more fit than I was fifteen years ago. It is a
nice added bonus!
Now I just generally feel better. The fact that I had just given my entire diet an overhaul
at the time I started my personal training also had a tremendous effect on my whole
being. Overall, my experience working out at Shapes R In has been gratifying and life
affirming.

In January 2007, I had surgery for colon cancer followed by three months of
chemotherapy treatment.  As a result, I lost most of my muscle tone and developed poor
balance.  Since I had previously trained with Jose and achieved all my fitness goals, I
