Learn about these hidden hormones critical for teen’s weight loss
By Jose Fuentes/CPT/MS/CN
Teens want to be understood, love, want to be unimpeachable, and trustworthy to others. Overweight teens aren’t the exception. However, The story of parents at their first meeting with me, (Morris County NJ #1 Weight Loss System For Teens!), when coming to shapes r in looking to help their teens is the same: They hasten off the door to my desk, shake their hand with me quickly, while their teen is hiding behind my water cooler. I brake the ice by telling them how brave they are for coming to explore their weight loss options with me.
They smiled and relax. Bottom line is that teens go through many faces while their developing their bodies. They feel; sad, happy, angry at times. Overweight teens aren’t the exception. Gaining their trust is extremely important. I want them to work with me not against.
The next step is making them comfortable to go to my first questions which go as follows:
What do you like to see happening here?
How you picture yourself at the end of this process?
I ensure to them; that I will work with their goals every step of the way. Pizza and ice cream is perfectly fine, after few weeks of detox, and just in moderation. Then the parents become involve in a friendly way. Understanding I have a total control of the meeting.
All comes down to the same process to me, hormones, hormones!.
As with adults, hormones in teens need to be adjusted, the problem with teens is that their hormones are harder to be reset for weight loss, because is a constant shift, they are developing, therefore, their moods, fluctuations and emotions are controlled by them. What their parents (i.e. adults) don’t get is that these hormones affect their weight, appetite, and water fluctuations, therefore their constant weight gain. According to the “society’s endocrine facts and figures reports” ; 20 percent of teens in the US are overweight due to an endocrine condition. A hormone called spexin plays an important roll in teen population. When this hormone is low, there is an incrase of weight gain in the teen population, that leads to obesity at an early age.
Spexin is a hormone that is believed to aid in regulating arterial blood pressure as well as the body fat and salt and water balance. When levels of this hormone drop significantly in teens will lead to abnormal weight gain. Several studies have shown that obese teens when compared to those with normal weight, show a low level of spexin. Therefore, they are more vulnerable to be overweight or obese, than those with the highest levels of the hormone.
How do we solve the spexin hormone problem in teens?
As we said this spexin hormone is the new kid of the block, in research for healthy weight maintenance for teens, I found that gut motility is key when these levels are regulated. For that reason I am going to start with these recommendations:
1-Start adding fiber foods to your teens dishes. Broccoli, oatmeal, asparagus, lentils, beans, would be a great to start.
2-Control portions. Portion control is essential when you want to get your teen’s spexin hormone reset. Always keep in mind that reducing portions drastically might not help your goal. Start by adding foods that will aid digestion. Cut carbohydrates and increase protein and fiber portions.
3-Snack, snack. This is a very important phase of your teens diet when you are not paying attention of this phase, your calories control goals will just be thrown off the window. Make sure you introduce them to snacks such as: grapes, celery sticks, mix nuts, apples, strawberries, etc.
4-Start with a strong breakfast. It is essential that teens love their food. At the end of the day we eat what we like, make sustainable changes, start with this awesome high protein pancake mix. Made up 10 organic grains. Low calorie, low sugar, low cholesterol, low sodium. This will not only help your teen to adjust their spexin levels, but also will improve bowel movement, and help your intestinal ecosystem.
The leptin GHRELIN Hormonal NIGHTMARE:
Leptin is an important hormone for teens weight loss aspirations, simply because is nature’s appetite suppressant, when you have enough to eat, leptin signals our brain to stop eating. However, if you have too much stored fat , your fat cells produce excess of leptin, causing leptin’s normal functions to shut down, because it’s been overwhelmed , so it never signals their body to say I’m full. So the more fat they carry the most likely they will be in an endless cycle of never feeling full. Ghrelin dubbed the hungry hormone is leptin opposite. The more ghrelin they have in their system, the more hungry they are. Ghrelin works by activating the brain’s reward response to highly addictive sweet, fatty, salty foods. Making them craving incessantly.
To reset these hormones, is important to consider the following points:
1-Stay hydrated. Water hydration practices, allow our bodies to stay full and less hungry. A rule of 10 8 oz glasses of water a day is a perfect way to start.
2-Get enough rest. It’s amazing how many teens stay late at night these days, playing video games, on social media, chatting with friends, etc. Make sure your teen gets enough sleep. Sleep deprivation is linked to increased levels of ghrelin, and lead to excess body fat storage.
For robust leptin function reduce the amount of fructose in their diet. Anything with high sugars, should be avoided. FRUCTOSE, and sucrose should be reduced. Anything like candy, flour, starches should be highly reduced. Increase zinc-rich foods. It’s proven that such foods improve leptin function. Anything like: beans, nuts, eggs, non gmo, non fried seafood, can dramatically help leptin function. We telling the truth! . Because most of the overweight issues on teens comes from fried food.
