Weight Loss For An Under Active Thyroid

Thyroid is control by the pituitary gland – a small peanut size gland at the base of the brain. The thyroid’s function is to take iodine and convert it into thyroid hormones : Thyroxine (T4) and triodothyronine (T3)

According to the American Thyroid Association, 20 million Americans have some form of thyroid disease.  I cringed away when noticed that 60 percent of those 20 million were unaware of their condition. I asked myself, how many more are out there undiagnosed and struggling with this disease without knowing?

I have a recent case of a client who was diagnosed earlier. A young lady who has experienced all the negatives of living with this condition and being put on medication. When she came to see me, she was desperate and worn out from trying everything that came  her way; to lose excess of weigh and recover her confidence. She has lost a significant amount of weigh as you can see on her pictures . These are the steps I take with all my clients who come with this issue, and for the most part all of them benefit from our  diet and exercise formulas, I hope it helps you as well:

1-Detox your gut at least once a month. In this practice you must be very careful. Since many of these programs, contain  the hashimoto’s disease best friends. Called: Cruciferous  vegetables, these are not  your thyroid gland’s BEST friend. Therefore, you need to get rid of these vegetables in your diet, since they contain goitrogens, which prevent your thyroid to getting the iodine needed for healthy function. Avoid the following:

Kale: This hearty green super star can do wrong. This vegetable can is a goitrogen which as said before can prevent your body from getting the iodine your thyroid needs to function properly!.

Also avoid:

Cabbage

Cauliflower

Broccoli

Brussels Sprouts

Bok Choy

Radishes

Mustard greens

 

2-Eat foods that can remove heavy metals in your system and replaced iodine. Iodine is an element that your thyroid needs and absorbs. You need foods that contain pectin. Pectin is a gelatine like fiber that sticks to toxic compounds in the blood and flushes them out of your body through urine excretion, as a bonus pectin can limit the amount of fat your cells can absorb.

Eat the following: Dates, guavas, quince, plums, gooseberries and oranges. And other citrus fruits, such as : tangerines, limes that contain a large amount of pectin.

3- Avoid the THOUREA COMPOUNDS. It’d be nice to think, all things growing from the ground are automatically good for you. But a malfunctioning thyroid, shifts that notion. Some foods have this thourea compound that can hinder the iodine needed to produce thyroid hormones, and worsen your thyroid problems in the process.

AVOID THE FOLLOWING FOODS WITH TOUREA:

Peaches

Pears

Soy products. Very important here . Soy products contain isoflavonoids, that can intercept your thyroids ability to make hormones, if you are not getting enough iodine.

(Not to mention is number 1 on the list of genetically modified  foods)

If you must drink soy milk due to a diary intolerance , consider a daily supplement with iodine , or almond milk instead.

4-Fatty Foods: You know the ones. The highly addictive foods that taste heavenly , but can take years of your life!

Foods like burgers, french fries, bacon, pizza, etc. You must skip at all costs.

These foods contribute to low energy and fatigue when they are a regular part of your diet and greatly hinder the duties of a weary thyroid.

5- Increase your exercise activities. Here my choice will be a god sweat at all costs. Sweating is the best think you can do, when have an under active thyroid, it will help you detox your lymphatic system, and activate your thyroid levels. However, low impact activity is key, since hypothyroidism can cause pain and swelling in your muscles and joints.”
